SAME - bird in a cage tag

it has been a quiet week for me for scrapbooking. my mojo has got up and went somewhere. No that is not true. it just seems i have so much to do and i am not sure where to start so nothing is getting done. I did however manage this week to clean up my scrappy room some. Chaos breeds chaos in my life so perhaps today is the start of a new cycle of scrappy goodness.
So for today's same i was TOTALLY inspired by Rangers Blog and a tag designed by his greatness Tim. here is my take on the said tag.

so i started with a Tim tag and an emboss board as well as walnut stain ink. i rubbed the ink right on the embossing board prior to placing the tag

this is what it turned out like

then it was time to cut out the cage and bird from grungeboard and stamp onto the bird

and then this.. well i had a brilliant plan and this was going to be the start of it. unfortunately it didn't work out. i wanted to make my own beads, perhaps use a bit of alcohol ink and then glossy accents..well i am not sure if it was my patience that ran out and i didn't let them dry correctly or if i had done something wrong.. they crumbled prior to me being able to do anything with them. never fear though, i will try again!!!

so here is the bird and tag all inked up pretty!!
here is a part of my stash of Tim goodness to attach to tags and layouts!

and here it is all put together for the most part

and here is my finished project!!!

So i hope you enjoyed today and that you have obtained some great inspiration from the Tim tag. Be sure to head on over to Ranger to see the complete instructions for Tim's tag!!!

SAME - wall hanging

okay so for today's SAME I decided to use the time to make a present. My sister (i am sure she doesn't read my blog) wanted one of the pics of John and I that we had done a few weeks back. I wanted to make it a special gift for her as she is special to me and to John. So i thought about doing a canvas but as the design team is doing a canvas i needed another idea.  I thought about it a bit and then remembered that i  have a few wooden supplies hidden in the closet for when the little ones come to visit so i thought.. HELLO!! this would be a perfect place to start.

So this is the 'clock' that i started with. i took off the arms from the clock
 covered it in modge podge
and then laid a piece of paper that i had cut out previously and laid it on top of the 'clock'
I then dug out from the bottom of my closet my brayer!! i had almost forgotten i even had it!
once it was dried i covered the paper with moonlight and sunshine glimmermists
followed by brushed corduroy along the edges of the frame
then it was on to embellishments. i love Tim anything and i finally had an opportunity to use my hammer. i used it here on the brad to give them just the right look.. love it!!!
so I happened upon this really old ribbon that was in the bottom of my ribbon draw and thought is was just perfect but the colour was just not quite right so........
 out came the glimmermist again!!!
so i added the tag that i had made last night and tada!!! the gift is complete.
thanks to you all for sharing another SAME with me. i hope i have inspired you to create! til next time...

happy birthday!!!!

today my wonderful little boy turns 20... The time sure has flown. This time 20 years ago he was fighting to get into this world and mama was in a lot of pain. We were having our first ice storm of the season and the hospital was over an hour away. He is my miracle baby. I am not sure why i was so blessed with this little spirit but am thankful, grateful, overwhelmed each day i have had with him... i am counting on many many more. Happy Birthday my sweet darling Monkey!!! I hope you always remember and never forget just how much i love you.. you are my world!

so John was over and now i can post his card and present here in my blog. you see he follows me so he can know what i am up to. So here are a few pics from this evenings event. i can't wait to scrap some of these pictures.

Also this evening i called my Nanny in Ontario. You see she and i share the same BIRTHing day. She gave birth to my mom this day many years ago. Happy Birthday Monkey and Mom (RIP) and happy Birthing Day to my Nanny and to me!!

SAME - love tag/layout

So for this weeks SAME I had a hard time coming up with something to do... mind you it isn't because i don't have any thing to do but the fact that i am working on so many things that are 'top secret'. Okay not really top secret but reveals for the design team.
So i decided to just do a tag this week. i started out with tracing an existing #8 tag (the size Tim uses!) and going from there and here is a pic of all other supplies that i had on my table.  I used these three distress inks as well as walnut stain. So the first step was to ink my stamp with the tattered rose and then stamp onto my tag followed by clear Zing and then heated up. I then used a mixture of frayed burlap, broken china, rusty hinge and tattered rose onto the tag being sure to wipe the embossed areas after each application. on the right is a pic of what it looked like when finished this step.
then it was time to add a few embellishments to the tag. i first attached the film strip with the tiny attacher and cut and glued a photo into the frame. oh and before it forget, do you see that piece of pink paper and small piece of grunge board.. well i glued them together at the start of this whole process in order to give them a chance to dry a bit. so then it was time to add a stamp on the top and bottom which i stamped with rusty hinge and then placed items on the tag until i was satisfied with how it looked. here is a photo of the final product. i am currently working on a layout to use this tag on. I hope you come back to see what i have done with it.
so until the next time my friends...

edit ...
PS.. here is the finished layout!!

late night crop at APOS!

What better way then to spend an evening then with a great bunch of scrappy ladies. I had such a great time last night and it was fantastic that SuzyQ decided to join us. She managed to get FIVE pages done.. can you imagine. So what did i do... two.five.. that would read two point five... that is it!!! i spent most of the night on this first layout. you see my son is turning 20 in 7 more days. I am okay with it but it is so very hard to believe. he is no longer going to be a teenager. maybe it is just me but it is a huge milestone. I wonder as he is growing older how my mom must of felt. i so badly sometimes want to ask, to talk to her, to hear her stories of me and my siblings.. but as you know i can't. And that my folks is one of the main reasons i scrap book. I want my son to know how much he is loved and what his mom is all about.. sorry.. this is not what this post was suppose to be about. so enough said. here is my first layout from last night and oh but of course it is all Tim Holtz products!!
The journalling reads. "I can't believe the time has come that you are turning 20".

the second layout i did is one of the first of many that i will be doing of my marathon. Remember that!! holy it seems like it has been bang, bang, bang..stuff happening with me. i have so much to catch up on i sometimes am overwhelmed where to start.

so in this layout it was the point in the marathon that i first saw John and Lau waiting for me. it was a welcome site to see that they had made it over to the Island to see me through this journey!!! Monkey had a chocolate milk for me and Lau a fruit roll up. they are such good thoughtful I am going to say it, kids!!!

so the final layout last night that qualifies as the point five is this one. it needs work. i have 67 photos to scrapbook from the photo shoot with Sandi so i should be getting to fussy i suspect but.. i just can't help it.

so folks that is it for today. i am working on some other things and have some exciting news that i hope to be able to share in the near future.... til then...

SAME- ezee pzee crate boxes

So it is Sunday and it has been a very busy one for me. i needed to finish up my inspiration team reveal (posted below) as well as of course do my SAME for the week.

so  what do you think. i had such a great time doing this today.. i simply couldn't wait to have it finished so i could take a pic. who knew that it takes HOURS for stickles to dry!!

so i have posted both the day time and night time versions of this. It is basically four crates that i had laying around that i knew i wanted to do something with. you remember the snowflake one from a couple of weeks ago, well i modified it in order to lay it on its side. and then attached the rest in the back with a couple of sticks and staples. Each crate is wrapped in Tim Holtz Tissue tape and two of them have gesso on the inside. They are all glimmermisted with blue, green, yellow and red. the candles as well are wrapped with tissue tape and then i dapped alcohol inks on them.

so here are a few closeups of the ezee pzee products and what i managed to do with them. This first one i embossed the white of the candy cane as well as the black of the ribbon. the holly and red on the candy cane is stickles!! The second one here, PEACE, i was a little worried about because wasn't sure how alcohol inks would take to the ezee pzee product. well let me tell you.... HELLO, wonderful or what!!  oh the third one, check him out.. isn't he cute. once again i used embossing ink and then used black for his hat and pants and then Distress Embossing powder for this shirt and hands/face. he is so very cute i just can't say it enough. and once again here is that snowflake

and then finally the little square for the centre.. lots of distress inks and the edging is from a gold paint dabber. So that is it.. that is my SAME for this week. it has been a very busy one for me for sure.. so til next time...

oh wait.. here is a sneak peak of something i have thrown together... does anyone recognize the pic?

November 1st - Monthly Challenge

so this month it is my turn to inspire the wonderful group of ladies over at APOS! I thought what ever will i come up with this month that everyone would like to participate in..why not a magazine challenge!!! So i have challenged them all to go through NON-SCRAPPY magazines and create a layout from an ad or an article. For an example here is a layout i did from this chocolate bar ad.  i love looking at magazines and seeing how they are laid out and copying them. So my little scrappy friends I sure can't wait to see what you come up with. Please share once you do!!! Til next time....
